DUCARD: What are you seeking?
WAYNE: I seek the means to fight injustice. To turn fear against those who prey on the fearful.
DUCARD: To manipulate the fears of others, you must first master your own.
DUCARD: Mr Wayne, this is Ra's Al Ghul. He offers you the path of a man who shares his hatred of evil and wishes to serve true justice. Under Ra's Al Ghul, you make yourself more than just a man... if you devote yourself to an ideal, and if they can't stop you, then you become something else entirely.
WAYNE: Which is?
DUCARD: Legend, Mr. Wayne. Now, are you ready to begin?
WAYNE: Ready?... I can barely stand...
DUCARD: Death does not wait for you to be ready! Death is not considerate or fair! And make no mistake, here you face death!
DUCARD: Do you still feel responsible for your parents' death?
WAYNE: My anger outweighs my guilt.
After months of training, Bruce is now ready for his test, to once again face Ducard in one on one combat.
DUCARD: Yield!
RA'S AL GHUL: Impressive!
RA'S AL GHUL: Now you are ready to lead the League of Shadows in destroying Gotham City.
WAYNE: I will go back to Gotham but I am not an executioner!
DUCARD: Your compassion is a weakness your enemies will not share!
Bruce hits Ducard and he falls, unconscious. He then proceeds to attack Ra's Al Ghul.
After defeating Ra's Al Ghul, Wayne rescues Ducard and brings him to safety. Ra's Al Ghul is left behind to die.
Wayne, realizing what he has to do and he designs a costume based on a bat, a creature he has been afraid of since he was young. Now, he would use that fear against those who prey on the fearful as...
...the Batman!
One year later, Bruce Wayne is confronted by a man claiming to be Ra's Al Ghul.
WAYNE: You're not Ra's Al Ghul. I watched him die!
Suddenly, Ducard, who was standing behind Wayne, attacks him from behind.
DUCARD: Precisely. Because I am Ra's Al Ghul. Surely, someone who spends his nights scrambling over Gotham's rooftops wouldn't begrudge my dual identities.
After Wayne regains consciousness, he once again dons the mantle of the bat, and confronts Ra's Al Ghul.
RA'S AL GHUL: Kill me!
BATMAN: I am not an executioner!
RA'S AL GHUL: Your mercy is your weakness... Your enemies will take advantage of that!
BATMAN: I won't kill you. But I don't have to save you, either...
Suddenly...
RANDOM GUY # 1: Look! Up in the sky! Its a bird!
RANDOM GUY # 2: Its a plane!
Its Superman!
SUPERMAN: Hold on, sir. I'll save you!
SUPERMAN: Up up and away!
BATMAN: What's the meaning of this? Why are you interfering?
SUPERMAN: Because its not how it works. We are not above the law.
BATMAN: But Ra's Al Ghul... the world is better off without him!
SUPERMAN: You've got a problem with that, Batman? You'll have to go through me first!
BATMAN: Fine with me, Boy Scout!
Out of nowhere, Batman pulls out Kryptonite, rendering Superman weak and powerless.
Batman, with the help of Ra's Al Ghul, tie up Superman with the Kryptonite.
BATMAN: Know what, Ra's? I think you've got a point with that mercy thing. How about we just leave him here?
RA'S AL GHUL: You have always been my greatest student..
BATMAN: Hey, lets get some coffee. My treat.
